2018: It’s a Wrap!

Here we are December 31, 2019 and we are all looking back at the year.

It’s ok to do that!  It’s ok as long as you take courage, assess your wins, note your shortcomings and then look forward.  Look forward to 2019.  Brand new year.  Though you may say the only thing that has changed is the calendar.  The main thing to change will be up to you because it will be your mindset.  Your mindset will influence your growth and changes you make in 2019.

Will you step out in faith?

Will you take that class?  Will you push through fear and try again at something you attempted in 2018?  Will you eat clean and cut your sugar intake?  Will you start that exercise program? It’s up to you.  No more excuses. Don’t worry I’m talking to myself too. I know you may be scared but please try again.  New day and new year right here.

When I flip through my daytimer I’m shocked at all the events and appointments that took place from January 1st.  I am also happy with the wins and things that took me out of my comfort zone.   Social Media became a friend rather than an enemy.   Showing up for webinars and supporting people’s events and dreams were also growth opportunities.  I had further surgery and began paying it forward in donating so other women could be assessed for breast cancer.

When I turned 50 I told my husband I wanted to give more in whatever form that came in, financially, serving but go beyond just ourselves.  That will continue to be my desire in 2019, however, I will be intentional with my time.  Time is the one commodity that you cannot get back.  Every minute must be treated with respect.

When I came out of surgery my surgeon told me that for the first week I was doing NOTHING.  He waved his hands stating emphatically I need you to rest and do NADA.  Well you know when I, Patricia Russell, hear those words I have to analyze what “nothing” means.  Yaaaaaaas, that’s right — it means rest.  It meant I had to STOP.  This was another one of those rare occasions I had to lay in bed, sit on the couch and simply rest so my body could heal.

I don’t want illness or any more surgeries to bring me to the point where I have to stop completely.  I can serve better, love better and be better when I’m healthy and focused.  Focus is my word for 2019 — this year is about being intentional.

What is your word for 2019?

What is one thing you want to work on starting January 1?  I’m not talking about resolutions.  I am challenging you to focus on at least one thing that you will commit to.  If the list grows – great but I’m asking  you to choose one.

Let’s Pray.  Lord, I’m thankful and deeply grateful for every person I’ve met and interacted with that have touched me in some way this year.  I’m grateful for the lessons I’ve learned and the mistakes I’ve made that have pushed me to be better.  Help us as we enter this year with faith believe and trusting You to carry us through 2019.  Amen.

It’s a wrap, friends!

From our home to yours — Happy New YEAR 2019!

Blessings!

Patricia Russell
