Happy Birthday to Me!

August 7 – two weeks ago, yesterday – was my birthday!

My two older brothers were both elated to have me as the new addition to the family.  Throughout the years,  we’ve had our typical sibling rivalry, but today, we will defend each other to the core.  Over the years there have been good times and bad.

Newsflash — that’s life.

I have experienced fear, betrayal, disappointment, been fired, gone through company restructuring, pastoral transitions, rejection because of my colour, gender and race.  All of this and more has helped me to be the resilient, stubborn, hard-working, determined human being that I am today.

Throughout every pain and every disappointment, my faith in Jesus Christ has enabled me to stand and fight.  I know we can be confident in ourselves, our dreams and our goals.  However, honestly, I choose to have faith in One who is greater than me.  I can be fickle from one day to another, but as one writer put it: Great is thy faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see.

September will mark the anniversary when I was diagnosed the second time with breast cancer.  Armed with a fierce mindset, I told my husband “we will fight again.”  You see, I believe God my Creator placed me in this amazing universe for great purpose.  I am here to influence and impact change. I do it by speaking, singing and coaching others so they can live out their purpose.

What is your purpose?

Comment and let me know what you believe you have been put on this planet for.  Maybe you are fearful of speaking it or writing it because you think you may not live up to it.  I understand what that feels like.  I used to do that too.  The only thing that can keep you from fulfilling that purpose is your belief that it cannot happen.  Your belief system, your faith (or lack of faith) is more powerful than you know.

My Mother prayed and believed.  However, I had to believe for myself.  I don’t put my faith in my weaknesses but in God’s strength.  I do believe that God has a plan, and it is way better than mine.  The question is — do you believe?

Blessings!
