Living in 2015 and Looking Forward

Looking Forward

Happy New Year!

I have spoken to several people who have made the same comment, “I can’t believe it’s 2015.  Where did 2014 go?!”  Well we have all heard the saying “time waits for no man or woman” and that is certainly our experience as we enter this year.  In light of this fact, we are pressed on every hand to use our time wisely.  With so many tragedies, death of loved ones, both young and old, we must make every effort to live each day purposely.

As a parent, it is overwhelming when I reflect on the birth of my children as though it was yesterday, and yet one is in university, and the other one right behind.  I remember the day I felt the warmth of their skin next to mine and they took their first breath! From here on the memories are rich and yet some are fading as they set the course of their own lives apart from Mom and Dad.

Last year was a whirlwind as we edited and released the live recording “Draw Me Nearer”, my beloved Wayne and I celebrated 25 years of marriage and I returned to my birthplace after 42 years.  While many will look on their lives for tangible, material things to give evidence they were here, I honestly have been thinking about the intangible, spiritual footprints I have left on the lives of people.  I am not satisfied.  I am buckling down in this year 2015 to maximize time, leaving imprints on lives, motivating and turning them into defining moments.

I am also focused on studying and growing mentally, physically and spiritually.  While it is good to pour into people’s lives it is important to build yourself so you actually have something to give.  So, before we turn and ask where 2015 went, let’s agree to purposely live each day to the max.  Sit and enjoy the flavours that roll around your mouth when you have that meal.  Feel and think about the words that leap off the pages of that novel.

Don’t spend so much time on Facebook and social media, that you do not spend time connecting with God and the people that really are your friends and will be in your Face for life – your family.  Take care of your health and spend time alone with a pen and paper.  And for goodness sake make conscious choices of what you eat.

2015 is here – let’s continue to live and enjoy it!

Blessings!
