A Year Of Connections

Can you believe it’s December 2007!

For many, this year was hailed as the year of completion, new beginnings and closures.  For others, it was seen as a year of expectation and breakthrough.  What has this year been for you?  For me it has been a year of connections.

I think back on the people I have been introduced to and other who I have connected with in a deeper way.  I think of the woman of God who heads up a bible college in India.  She is small in stature but big in her vision for reaching out to her nation with the Gospel.  I think of other women who ministered in South Africa for the first time to yet again share the life-changing message that Jesus is Lord.  Finally, another sister in ministry traveled to the war torn country of Lyberia to remind the people that God had not forgotten them.

These three women have dedicated their lives completely to doing what God says and going where He leads.  All of them have experienced loneliness and challenges as they walk in obedience to the call of God on their lives and yet they do it with abandoned joy,  I am sure they remind themselves often of the apostle Paul’s message to the Corinthians (verse 8 and 9):

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Paul was experiencing great hardships as he traveled around sharing the love of Jesus with people.  His motive was pure as was his actions but not everyone saw it that way.  He was beaten and went hungry many times.  However there was a passion within him and a love for people to experience the peace and satisfaction that he experienced that he was unable to give up.  Even in the verse above we see his literal confession that although life was hard he was still pressing on.

Whatever came across your path in 2007 look forward to 2008 with hope and perseverance in your heart!  Step into the new year with expectation that 2008 will be great!
