O Canada!

Canada Day was celebrated on Sunday this year.  It was a beautiful feeling to be in church singing our national anthem and lifting this country, its leaders and people in prayer to our heavenly Father.

Canada has been known down the centuries for its foundation upon the truths of the Word of God.  Scripture is engraved in the cement of the parliament building and yet today people are trying viciously to remove the name of God from our consciousness to “not offend” people from “other” countries who would come into our country.  I know of no other country that changes their mottos so that they don’t “offend” those coming into their country to live.

We need to pray for our leaders.  Fathers, mothers, teachers, club leaders, prime ministers and company presidents.  We must pray for our children in this present generation.  It is said that prayer changes things.  I believe prayer changes individuals who then can change things all through the power of Jesus Christ.

I came across a version of our national anthem, O Canada, before the present day version was accepted.  What a blessing to read these words.  I hope they will be an encouragement to you also.

O Canada! Where pines and maples grow,
Great prairies spread and Lordly rivers flow!
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From East to Western sea!
The land of hope for all who toil,
The true North strong and free!
God keep our land, glorious and free.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies,
May Stalwart sons, and gentle maidens rise.
To keep thee steadfast thro’ the years,
From East to Western sea.
Our own beloved native land,
Our true North strong and free!
God keep our land, glorious and free.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our Dominion, in thy loving care.
Help us to find, O God, in thee,
A lasting rich reward.
As waiting for the better day,
We ever stand on guard.
God keep our land, glorious and free.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

Happy Birthday Canada!

May God truly keep our land glorious and free.
